Caston Thomas, CEO and founder of InterWorks Technology in Rochester, MI is both a standing tech expert and co host for he show but he is also an excellent commentator on security on the Web. So we took special note of his response to an article by another security expert on the degree of information that Google has about each of us.

Caston is going to help us look at the consequences of all that data mining and deal with the simple but profound question: What has happened to privacy? Is there such a thing anymore? How can we protect critical data e.g. SS numbers, bank account information etc.?  What does privacy mean in 2018? Is Google the only or biggest player in this field? Who else has eyes on our data?

Vectorform, is a digital product and experiences company with expert capabilities in mixed reality design and engineering, today announced its collaboration with Microsoft to innovate vehicle design and prototyping processes for the automotive industry. Using Microsoft’s HoloLens mixed reality headset, Vectorform and Microsoft enabled Ford Motor Company’s designers and engineers to view 3D holographic versions of exterior body options (e.g. side mirrors, grilles) overlaid on top of the physical vehicle prototypes.

Part of our mission during the past 20 year here on WJR has been to highlight excellent in local technology design.

Paul Eisenstein, Editor of The Detroit Bureau starts us off by highlighting the two major events of the new year…North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) and Consumer Electronic Show (CES)

NAIAS 2018 is Detroit’s Really Big Show as Ed Sullivan used to say (most of you remember him or can at least Google the name!) The future of driving as well as the latest models are one display.  You get a sense not only of where the auto industry’s cutting edge models are but where we are headed in the future.  Will that mean more electric or hybrid vehicles or will be see displays of self-driving cars and trucks?  Tune in and find out.

CES 2018 is a fitting connection for Paul because he will be heading there after his does his reporting for The Detroit Bureau The connection to the electronics show is a natural for anyone as steeped in the auto industry as Paul Eisenstein.  As a matter of fact, the electronic componentry in today’s autos are the strongest selling points after design and performance.
