Goodby Dr. Dean…Happy 30th Anniversary MacGroup Detroit…Security Expert Caston Thomas

Dr. Dean KrauskopfIt’s hard to believe but Dr. Dean Krauskopf, host of WJR’s Gardening Show, and our long time expert neighbor on WJR, is leaving for the fall and winter months.  God willing he will return in Spring 2017 after the NCAA Final Four champs are crowned (he’s still  holding out hope for MSU his alma mater).  In the meantime, send  your questions on gardening to Dr. Dean at WJR’s Gardening Show blog page.

Happy 30th Anniversary MacGroup Detroit

Terry White founded the Mac Group Apple users group at his offices in downtown Detroit in 1986 and it has not missed a beat since. Sunday, August 21 a full house of the faithful Mac users gathered at Temple Beth El in Birmingham, MI to celebrate that momentous occasion.  Terry was there not just in spirit but via Facetime to greet the gathered members.

CalCal Carson, our own Mac expert, brought three of the Mac Group members to our studios to mark the historic occasion with our Internet Advisors.  Dave McGuire,Chita Hunter, and Chuck Friedman  joined us in studio.

Caston ThomasCaston Thomas. president of InterWorks, LLC, specializes in finding new information security technologies for large corporations, educational institutions, & government organizations.  However, he has a deft touch when it comes to explaining complicated security issues in language we all can understand.  We look forward to Caston joining us regularly to talk about security issues like passwords and ransomeware.

How do  you determine the level of security you need? Try Caston’s SPF. Security, Protection Factor.  It is important not only to think about keeping your “stuff” safe, but also thinking in terms of the information for which you are responsible, i.e. whom or what can the bad guys get and through you? (e.g. an employee )
