WordPress Fighting Off Second Wave of Attacks

Hackers have tried for the last two days to shut down WordPress.  The hosting service is home to 18 million blogs including some of the Internet’s most influential commentators.  Cyber thugs have bombarded the WordPress servers for two days with DDOS (Directed Denial of Service) attacks.  “This is the largest and most sustained attack we’ve seen in our six-year history. We suspect it may have been politically motivated against one of our non-English blogs but we’re still investigating and have no definitive evidence yet.” according to Matt Muellenberg, WordPress founder.

Libya Finds New Way to Strangle the Net

While mid eastern users have found ways around other dictator’s attempts to block the Internet, Col. Moammar Gadhafi, Libya’s dictator, seems to be shutting down the Net for everyone but himself.   His son Muhammad Gadhafi just happens to own one of the country’s largest ISP’s which would explain the level of skill needed to do this, but we all know that this is a digital chess match that is far from over.
