I work in the IT area at Chrysler and while we are still mostly XP we are moving to WIn 7.  We have been using IE8 on all XP loads for quite some time and I have never seen any issues with this.  This is many thousands of PCs.

I have 3 XP machines at home, all IE8 and no problems noticed.

I just thought I would bring a different opinion to what I hear on the show about "do not" install IE8 on XP.

Bravo, Crypto.

Although my main machine at home is a Mac, I have windows 7 desktop and a windows XP netbook, both running IE8 flawlessly.

It bums me out to constantly hear about how "bad" IE is.  I think this attitude is mostly just momentum from the IE6 and earlier days, when it could be argued that IE DID have some major issues.  Those days are largely gone, but the perception remains.

DON'T FEAR INTERNET EXPLORER!  It's a solid browser.  My P-4 machine with 512 mb ram runs IE as fast as any other brower I have.  If you claim to have performance issues with IE as a result of its hunger for resources, I would counter by saying that you might have other issues you need to address within your PC.

True the stigma surrounding IE persists though IE8/9 are better.

I myself use Firefox4 and before that I used Netscape Navigator going back to version 3. I just prefer this browser. I also use Thunderbird & Lightning (calender) at home and Outlook / Office Suite 2007 at work SUNY Cobleskill.
