Running 2 Gateway computers with XPPro and all applicable updates. Both computers have ProTools 7.3.1 audio recording software on them. If I install IE8 on either or both computers ProTools fails to work properly. If I try to reinstall Protools under IE8 it won't install at all. 

Everything works fine under IE7. Granted, this is an older version of ProTools, but it was written to work on XP and XPPro..

Am I wrong in my thinking, or is Microsoft abrogating their responsibility to provide a browser (IE8) that should work with programs that previously ran under IE7?

Finally got the definative word from Avid. Protools 7.3xxx will not install under IE8. If IE8 is installed over PT7.3.xxx it will not run. Guess that is part of the breaks that come with trying to run older programs.
