I recently wound up with Google Chrome on my personal laptop after downloading Google Earth. Consequently, links in e-mails opened in Chrome instead of Internet Explorer.  I prefer IE, so I uninstalled Chrome.  After uninstalling Chrome, I was unable to open links in e-mails at all. I got the error message, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system adminstrator."  I tried setting IE as the default browser, but that didn't help.  I did some research and discovered that a DLL file got removed when I uninstalled Chrome.  I tried importing the missing DLL file, but my security wouldn't let me import it.  I called Internet Advisor, and they advised me to do a system restore.  I did that, and started getting the error message, "Unable to find locale data files.
Please reinstall." I had no clue what that meant, but realized that my Norton security was out of date due to the system restore.  I updated until I had the most recent protection.  Now my links work again.  Thank you IA!  However, I want to remove Chrome and use IE as my default browser. I am understandably reluctant to try it again.  Does anyone have a foolproof method for this? Thanks in advance!

Why not just make IE your default browser and keep Chrome on your system.

That's the way I run. I have no problem with interference betwen the two.

Try using Chrome and you might find you like it.

Very simple browser, fast and handy.

If I remember correctly C-net recently anointed Chrome as the safest browser to use.
