Receiving this message quite often while on Internet.  I use Google Chrome.  Updates are done daily at 3:00 a.m.  This is the message:

——————————————————————————————————-

Microsoft.NETFramework

* Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.  If you click the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.  If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Unable to load DLL"hppatusg01.dll":  The specified module could not be found (Exception from HRESULT:0X8007007e).

    Details                                    Continue                         Quit

——————————————————————————————————-

UPON CHECKING DETAILS THIS IS THE FIRST MESSAGE (along with pages of possible exceptions and/or things to do – which I do not understand.)

——————————————————————————————————-

See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time debugging instead of this dialog box.

……..Exception text……………….

  System D11NotFoundException

My question:   What does this mean?  I keep clicking either Continue or Quit and everything seems to continue working until the next window message pops up again.  Over night a message came:

"Stop (blue screen) error caused by a device or driver:  You received this message because a hardware device, its driver or related software has caused a stop error, also called a blue screen error…….."

Several options were given.  I did two things:

1)  I ran a total update of the computer.

2)  I ran a complete "Check Disk" of computer (took about 4 hours).

And this morning the same "warning window" has popped up.

I've added no new hardware (other than using a new USB Flash Drive).

What can I try?  What can I do?

Harold

There could be a problem with the Microsoft .net application or a program that uses .net.

I would suggest performing the following.

Go into control panel – Windows XP – add/remove programs or in Windows vista and 7, programs and features and uninstall the Microsoft .net Framwork.

Then Download and install the newest Microsoft .Net Framwork for Windows

http://www.microsoft.com/net/download

The .Net error you received calls out the HP file, hppatusg01.dll.  This could be a printer or if you own an HP computer, an pre-install HP utility.  HP installs 6 or 7 programs that always run.  Some of these programs check for HP software updates, HP finger scanner, HP Smartcard reader, HP health check,  on and on and on.   One of these preinstall programs that used the hppatusg01.dll file is damaged or requires updating.

You have several options to try.  Disable the HP software or reinstall or update the HP software.

The obvious first choice is to download and install updated HP printer software, if you use an HP printer.  If this does not correct the problem, go to the HP support site, type in your computer model type, select your Windows version, and download and install any of the HP add-on programs you see listed, not the hardware device drivers (video, network, mouse,…).
