I am using Palm pilot T4 and have about 1700 contacts (in 15th categories), calendar, and other data on it. Searching users manual (iPone4) how to convert those files to MS Outlook was not seccesful, neither calling tech support of Apple (big disapoitment). I just have trouble to accept that with today tech. it wouldnt be possible to convert data from one program to another?!! and start typing (as Apple tech had adviced me!)
So before I do that, does anybody knows how to convert files palm pilot into outlok?
Thanks in advance, jaro

Are you sure you have a T4? I can find no mention of that particular Palm Model on the internet. Assuming you have another model, (Such as T2 or T3), you can get the contacts off it. You will need your cradle or sync cable (Some way to connect it to your computer.)
You should be able to use the Palm Desktop to sync your contacts with your computer. Once it is in the desktop software, you should be able to export a file to merge into outlook. This page has links to download the Palm Desktop for what seems like every verson of the Palm Pilot they every made:

Good Luck.

Hallo Kurt,
You are absolutely right, it is T3, Igot mixed up with phone I guess; Anyway I do have those files on my computer I synchronize them from time to time.
I was in Outlook and tried to import those files click import C:, prgogram filles, Palm, address, then down in the File name I type palm(?) but it didn't work I have no idea what to type there.
So I tried from opened Palm export into the Outlook; so export, C:, MS office, but now I don't even have MS Outlook. But even I did then again there is File name; then what?
So that is as much as my little knowledge goes, unfortunately. If you can give me more details how to do it I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks again, Jaro

Hi Jaro,
In the Palm Desktop Manager, you should be able to go to File->Export, and export a .CSV file of all your contacts. A .CSV can be imported into anything.
Now, saying that, in the Palm desktop manager you can set the palm to sync with outlook. That will move all of your contacts over to Outlook. Then, in itunes, you can set your iphone to sync with Outlook. That will move all of your contacts to you iphone. That would eliminate having to export any files.

Hi Kurt,
I like the second part of your sudgestion the best since I would be able to still use my T3. However any syncing I found is just between hendheld and desktop. I wish this would work.
So I have tried import into Outlook, import/export wizrd, import from another program or file, then there is a bunch to chose from so I click Personal address book, File to import I did .CSV – didn't take it, I copied exact address from properties (Palm address folder), didnt work. So what the heck am I doing wrong?
Many thanks as always, Jaro

What version of Windows are you on? Is it 32 or 64 bit? What version of Outlook are you using? The Tungston T3 apparently will not sync via USB with 64 bit edition of windows, and may have some trouble with Outlook 2007. If you are using Outlook 2007, there is an update to Palm Desktop 6.2 you need to install (http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/….. – This page has troubleshooting tips, and the update is about halfway down.)

Kurt,
thank you for being patient with me. I believe my computer (Toshiba A105-S4334) (2006) is running W XP media edition 32bit. Outlook is 2003. My T3 synchronize with PC without problem as well as iPhone with Outlook. I went to a palm web page and did that update 6.2. Instalation was OK except at the end I got a message that not all aplications were copied. so since I liked the previous version better I might uninstall the latest version. But back in the transfering the files.
Say I want to import the files from opened Outlook. The very first window is Import and export Wizard, there is 6 lines option, so I clicked on Import from another program or file. Next window is "Import the File" which has 13 lines option. Anythig as a Palm is not listed so intuitivly I chose "Personal Address Book" Next window has the field for the file with buton browse. I find palm and folder address click and nothing happen. That field is not filed. I think I am doing something wrong! Where do I go from here? thanks, jaro

Hi Jaro,
You actually shouldn't need to do anything in Outlook to sync your Palm with it. Inside the Palm Desktop manager is a setting to sync the contacts with Outlook. Once you set that, and sync the palm, it will do everything else.

Kurt,
I was researching that over the week and on the palm pages was suggestion to reinstall palm from the disk and chose option synch with Outlook. So I did; when performed sync I got a message "The currently installed Outlook version is not supported. Outlook 98, 2000, and XP(2002) are supported"
I do also have Outlook expres, which I don't like since having some troubles years ago…
My computer came with just trial software and I bought Ms Office (2003) separately; instalation just regular.
At this point I would be happy to transfer just contacts my other files are not that important and large.
Thanks as alvays, jaro

Hi Jaro,
It is tough for me to give you much further advice, as I don't know where the option is in Palm Desktop to export a file. I would try to sync with Outlook Express if it gives you that option, just to get started. The problem you are having is because your palm is so old, it only wants to work with older software (Such as Office XP)
Somewhere in Palm desktop should be the option to export Contacts to a csv file. I don't know where that is though, as I have not used the palm desktop in years.
Dig around, and you should hopefully find a way to do a one time export of your contacts. Otherwise it may be that you need someone to help you in person. (It is a lot easier to figure these things out when you can see the screen.) We do offer onsite support, if it comes to that.

Hi Kurt,
You are absolutely right and I understant it that you would have it done in the secconds having the screen in front of you. I do take it as a chalenge and learning experience since I don't have any formal training on computing. I will take your suggestion and play with it, if any succes I am going to post it just in case sombody else out there is using archaic devices like me (ha ha).
Thanks again for all your help and patience wit me and my busy working schedule, jaro
