I now have AT&T as my ISP, and I am having intermittent connection problems.  Their support staff is hopeless as they tie you up for hours doing things you have already done.  Nothing seems to change.

What ISPs do you all recommend?

I have DSL.  I just spent over an hour on the phone with people from India.  They had me try and re-try steps I have already done.  Finally the tech blamed it on my router when he was able to make my connection work for about 10 seconds.  Fortunately for me I lost my internet connection before he hung up.  He then had to admit it was not by router, and scheduled a phone tech to come to my house. 

Before the tech came out AT&T called me to verify and the automated system put me on hold for half an hour.  A person eventually came on and he sent a tech after having me do more useless connection checks.  The final verdict is that the line going to my house got wet and will have to be replaced.  This will be AT&T’s responsibility.  He put in a temporary wire and my connection is restored for now.  The whole morning was wasted.
