guys, I'm sorry… I need more help… I downloaded ComboFix to a CD, rebooted my daughters computer in safe mode with networking, put the disc in the drive, and although it recognizes the "label name" of the disc, it is not reading the application programs. I'm going through "run" and then browsing for the application. it finds the CD but when I click on it, it won't "open" it.

I would try downloading and burning it again. It's just a .exe file; nothing out of the ordinary there. You could also try putting it on a flash drive and moving it over.
Just curious……is your daughter's computer still having problems?

I've downloaded it to a flash – just havn't had time today to try to work on it… yes, it's my daughters computer that's having the issues. I can't get McAfee to stay "on", and Ican't update MalwareBytes because I can't connect to the internet, etc.
My biggest concern is that she has a summer online course to take and she can't get online…hoping to solve the problems this week!
I'll try the flash drive tomorrow and post my results.
Thanks
Cindy

Cindy, you're a trooper. I admire that in a woman. That said, I think if I were in your place, I'd raise the white flag, back up your daughter's data, and wipe that machine. You're fighting an uphill battle with whatever is on that thing. You've been fighting the good fight for the better part of 3 weeks on this puppy. With a Windows re-install, you could probably have that machine back to factory-new in a few hours.
Good luck!
